Aim for PROGRESS not Perfection

Perfection is probably one of the most highlighted aspects that deteriorates and strays many persons who have dreams of making themselves better in life. As explained by many successful persons worldwide; the true aim is to start from wherever you are, and then grow into that person that you need to in order to attain the life that you dream. This growing in sense is rather just learning along the way from every single mistake that was made. A factor that many of us still can’t seem to absorb as we seem to all have this complex view of success from an angle that we have to make some HUGE changes. An aspect and concept that I will try to breakdown in its simplest form from exposing the truth behind why PROGRESS is far more important than PERFECTION.
Why is Perfection Poisonous?
When moving
forward it is important to stimulate our minds from a view of simplicity,
meaning; what we don’t want to
do is view CHANGE
from its most difficult angle as most
people don’t want to change not because they don’t want the many fruits that it may bring, but because
it requires a whole stream of changes towards attitudes and behaviours that are
and were embedded in our ways because of the environment that we were brought
up in. Hence, it is only the pain, hurt and guilt that comes with altering
these changes that we are afraid of, and somehow always fall victim towards the
discomfort that is also intertwined with
it as well. Thus why we are always distracted by looking at the outcome from an
angle or view of perfection without even taking into consideration all the
necessary steps needed in order to reach these very goals that we so need.
These steps are what we refer to as ‘the progress’. A process that can be
explained as having enough awareness in order to see our shortcomings, bad
habits and behaviours from a non-emotional stance in order to have some view of
where these niggling aspects that don’t serve much purpose came from. It is at
this point we are able to de-attach from a more intellectual stand point, all
of these habits that serve as blockages and guards against our view of growth,
as we tend to think that we have to make this arsenal and uncanny shift that
only hurts nothing but our ego. Which is why so many of us are stuck within the
realm of thinking that we have to do things perfectly in order to succeed, and
not understanding the process of practicality that’s actually needed in order
to make PROGRESS of which is far
more essential.
Awareness is the
gateway towards staying PRESENT
If we should look
at how easily people will associate the success of persons as sheer LUCK and not WILL, we can tend to use this aspect to create a pictorial image of
what goes on in the minds of most individuals when the view of success comes
into retrospect. What most people don’t realise is the importance of staying
engaged and present on every step no
matter it’s high degree or ambiguity, as these are always of high value in the
aspect of learning. What we don’t want is to be in a such a high sense of
ego that we find pleasure in disregarding all the valuable lessons that are
behind all the mistakes that we make in our upbringings. Whether in school,
business, sports, friendships or in our jobs, these lessons are usually thought
to be little but are some of the very reasons and things that distinguish the poor,
middle class and rich. Which is why the aspect of them being made so frequently
should be taken into consideration by us all at a higher magnitude as they are
only teaching us life from its simplest of angles. Hence why so many us just
can’t seem to grab onto this as we are not aware at all of their values, as we
usually just sweep these mistakes under the rugs created by our egos. Thus, we
are unable to stay present as we are always thinking of the future without
making the necessary changes in order to stay connected with the presence of
life in it’s entirely. No wonder why we
are always so anxious to get onto the next point without even enjoying the
journey. A factor that only awareness can cure as we spend too little time
which questioning our behaviours in order to understand why we do the things we
do.
ENJOY taking the
Little STEPS
A lot of new and
added characters can be built from this as it forces us to engage entirely with
life from a far less and complex view. Let’s look at it from this view; let’s
imagine a person who doesn’t loves to read but wants to become a lawyer right?
From first perspective someone hearing this would say straight away that this
person has no chance, however we cannot blame them in this scenario as reading
is of high correlation towards being a lawyer. But what about other essential
characteristics like being able to use emotional intelligence from a less
prejudice and non-juristic angle? Isn’t it important also to assess this person
from this aspect as well? Hmmm….another reason where we can see where
Perfection creates this blockage from seeing things on a more practical level
as we would already be trapped into viewing things holistically without seeing
that all these other things or characters like reading can be practiced and
learned over a period of time. A clear view why taking these little steps are
so much important as we can grow from point or level 1 to 2 once we are willing
to work endlessly on development. Bear in mind though that these steps will
make you feel extremely uncomfortable as our mind will continually question
your sanity as you move forward.
MISTAKES are
Precious just like GOLD
Probably every
successful person will tell you how important making mistakes were within their
development, as these
things just gave them the opportunity to see whatever they were or are doing on a whole different scale. Mistakes and failures provide us with the gateway to restructure, re-plan and add even more value to our respective ideas and talents on a whole different level that we most times tend to not even envision. So why is it that so many of was crumble within that moment when we experience our first failure or began to meddle our minds within this strap to think that we cannot triumph over whatever hurdle that we are going through. Bear in mind that one of these keen factors lies within the way how we were brought up, as many of us were scold for our mistakes instead of being told why we needed to actually do better. Hence, if we were literally conformed to seemingly accept that making mistakes are bad of sort, which raises the factor that our brain cells have accepted the eluded ideologies of such. Mark my word that when a factor of such becomes evident, just know that the level of discomfort that you will feel will have you thinking that whatever you’re doing is somewhat affecting your sanity. Thus, you will feel as if you need to resort back within your denounced level and mental scope of comfort. But just know that within a couple of months you will envision and see yourself and things extremely differently. Just research the greats and you’ll see how much jump shots that Michael Jordan had to miss daily before we seemingly thought that he perfected it, look at how much times Colonel Saunders seemingly failed to execute his secret recipe until it was accepted, or even looked at how many times job interviews Jack Ma failed at before he started his own online warehouse. They all had one aim in common and that was to use each mistake or failure as a guideline towards mastering their trade and even more importantly their aim was rather progress of which caused their drive to double each time they were rejected.
